Served in Capt. Burk's Co. at Fort Edward as a drummer from March 21 to Oct 20, 1757; was also in the Revolutionary War. He is believed to have been one of the six men who started to explore the wilds of Kentucky with Daniel Boone, May 1, 1769, and who set out again for Kentucky with their families in 1773, and was killed in the battle of Blue Licks, Aug. 19, 1782 (Severance, pg. 28-29).
