Dunscombe, Edward Cecil, 94, of Goose Creek, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011. He was born in New York, NY, the son of the late Cecil and Marie Marguerettaz Dunscombe. He grew up and spent most of his working life in Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Dunscombe served our country proudly in the United States Army, where he served in the Second World War. After his military service, he worked for the Prudential Insurance Company for over 30 years before retiring in 1977. Subsequent to his retirement, he lived in Upstate New York and Port Richey, Florida before moving to the Lowcountry in 2005.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Edith Schweikert, his son Gary, and his sisters: Marguerite Salmon and Rose Marie Bisher. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Hamill and her husband, Patrick, of Mahopac, NY; son Bruce and his wife, Eileen, of Goose Creek, SC; son Edward and his wife Sharon of Endicott, NY; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a good Christian man, husband, and father who worked hard to provide for and care for his family.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, January 15, 2011, 3:00-4:00pm with funeral service immediately following at 4:00pm, St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 200 S. Goose Creek Blvd. Goose Creek, SC 29445.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to a charity of one's choice.
The family would like to send special thanks to the staff of Life Care Center of Charleston, for the wonderful care they gave to Mr. Dunscombe during the last five years.
