Mr. Wilton E. "Flip" Pool of 1203 Peach Avenue, South Boston died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Halifax County Oct. 9, 1925 and was 84 years of age. He was the son of the late Richard Arthur Pool and Ola Susan Hudson Pool and was married to the late Jean Marie Foster Pool. Mr. Pool was a member of Stoneville Presbyterian Church in Stoneville, NC. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and was retired as a buyer with American Tobacco Company.

Survivors include two brothers, George Edward Pool of Goldsboro, NC and Otis Pool of Great Falls; and one sister, Dorothy Watts of South Boston.
One son, Foster Pool, three brothers, Nathaniel, John and Frazier Pool; and four sisters, Madeline Bishop, Evon Comer, Virginia Lowery and Mary Nelson, also preceded Mr. Pool in death.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Gorman officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens with Military Rites.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at his home.
