"George R. Edwards died on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Mr. Edwards had been in ill health for about a year past, but our people generally were not prepared for the grievous shock received upon the announcement of his death. Although Mr. Edwards had scarcely reached the meridian of his life, his age being only 39 years, he was active and prominent in many of the business interests of our town, and always energetic and liberal in every movement looking to its healthful advancement. He was senior member of the large mercantile house of "Edwards Bro.", secretary and treasurer of the Buckeye Tannery, and interested in several of the business activities of this place. He had the confidence and trust of the people in every avenue of life. The death of George R. Edwards will leave a vacancy not readily filled. A wife and four children survive him. Funeral services will be held in the Congregational church on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock."
