June Ward Robertson Compton, 90 years of age, of Birmingham, Alabama, formerly of Buchanan County, Virginia, went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 16, 2014.

She was born May 30, 1924 in Buchanan County, VA and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Stella Clifton Ward. June was a graduate of Whitewood High School and attended Mary Washington and Bluefield Business Colleges. She was an avid reader and bird watcher. June was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of Baptist Bible Church at Pilgrims Knob.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Shaw Ward; first husband, Hoge Robertson; her second husband and the love of her life, Herman Compton; one daughter, Nancy Compton; one grandson, Matthew Byars; and one niece Shelia Ward.

Also surviving is a special sister-in-law Ethel Ward, nephew Clark Ward, niece Ann Ward Blumenstein and step-children, Butch Compton and wife Kay, Jim Compton, Marie McCright and husband Grady all of Texas.

Funeral services for June Ward Robertson Compton will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA with Rev. Andy Maynard and Rev. Troy Lester officiating. Interment will follow at the Ward Family Cemetery in Pilgrims Knob, VA. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am ? 1:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
