CLARA ADELINE RATLIFF MAGEE, 80 years of age of Jonesboro, TN, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, TN, following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Orson Pratt and Lydia Margaret Rife Ratliff. She was a resident of Buchanan County most of her life and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mrs. Magee was a graduate of Whitewood High School and Emory & Henry College. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and was a Retired School Teacher having served 34 years, 26 of which was at Vansant Elementary School.

Mrs. Magee was preceded in death by her husband: John J. Magee, March 29, 1987.

She is survived by 2-Daughters: Patricia Ann and husband Johnny Lane, Jonesborough, TN, Michelle Elizabeth and husband Kenny McClanahan, Grundy, VA, 2-Sons: Joseph Michael Magee, Grundy, VA, Kenny Ray Magee, Bristol, VA, 3-Sisters: Agnes Hicks, Albany, OH, Lois Chesser, Albany, OH, Mary Elizabeth Brannock, Albany, OH, 2-Brothers: Fred Gilmer Ratliff, McArthur, OH, Hallie Clayton Ratliffe, Richmond, VA.

Also, survived by 1-Granddaughter: Brittany Nicole Lane, Jonesborough, TN., 5-Grandsons: Michael Shawn and wife Victoria Smith, Abington, VA, Kenneth Wayne McClanahan II, Joshua Joseph Magee, Ryan Tyler Magee and Scott Andrew Magee, all of Grundy, VA, Special Nephew Bill and wife Joann Rife, and 2-Special Caregivers: Fredia Gibbs and Diane Chugg.

She was preceded in death by 1-Daughter: Merceda Magee, 8-Sisters: Leona and Loraine Ratliff, Mary Alice Clifton, Ellen Fay Matney, Ruth Fayard, Mattie Mable Rife, Floie Ester McClain, and Ivory Pearl Miller, and 2-Brothers: Luther Hurtle and Orson Harold Ratliff.

Funeral Services for CLARA ADELINE RATLIFF MAGEE will be conducted Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Ward Cemetery, Pilgrims Knob, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
