Susan Ann Wright was 1st married to William S. Vanderbilt. They had eight children together. After his death in 1864, she married Andrew Hoogland, on September 14, 1870 in Manhattan, New York.
Mrs. Susan Ann Vanderbilt-Hoogland, widow of Andrew Hoogland and daughter of Charles S. Wright who for forty years, prior to 1887, was prominent in educational affairs in this city, died at her home No. 29 West Forty-sixth street yesterday. Her first husband was W.S. Vanderbilt a descendant of the Rockland county branch of the Vanderbilt family and related distantly to Jacob Vanderbilt who recently died on Staten Island. Her second husband, Andrew Hoogland, was one of the prominent flour merchants of the city prior to 1881. She was born and educated in the Ninth Ward and leaves four children from her first marriage.
