Elizur [i.e., Elizur Chauncey] Goodrich, [eldest s. of Elizur Goodrich, Jr. and Anne Willard Allen,] b. [of record] at New Haven, Conn., Oct. 3, 1787; graduated at Williams College in 1806; taught school at Durham, Conn.; studied law with his uncle, Chauncey Goodrich at Hartford; commenced the practice of law at Hartford; m. Eliza Champion, daughter of Gen. Henry Champion of Colchester, Conn., Oct. 25, 1818; gave up the practice of law in consequence of the pecuniary reverses of his partner; was principal of Bacon Academy at Colchester from about 1824 to 1827; returned to Hartford where he lived without active business, except for the care of his property until his death [at Hartford], Nov. 3, 1868. Mrs. Goodrich d. [at Hartford] Feb. 17, 1868. They had no children.
