Departed this life on the morning of March 28, 1890, Curtis Burr Graham, in the seventy-sixth year of his age. Funeral at his late residence, 1916 H street, at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30.
GRAHAM, CURTIS BURR
Engraver and lithographer born in Ossining, NY in 1814. He was active in New York City until 1842, then in Washington, DC until 1890. In the early years he was with the U.S. Coast Survey but eventually established his own engraving firm, which his son Curtis B. Jr. took over after his death. He lithographed the plates for W.H. Emory's Notes of a Military Reconnaissance from Fort Leavenworth, MO, to San Diego, California, published in Washington in 1848. He died in the District in 1890.
