Anna Maria Edson was the daughter of Cyrus D. Edson (1820-1856) and Mary Davison Nelson (1825-1905). On April 13, 1871, she married First Lieutnant John Lorimer Worden Jr., at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Albany, New York. Her husband was the eldest son of Rear Admiral John Lorimer Worden (1818-1897), commander of the USS Monitor during its engagement with the CSS Virginia (ex-USS Merrimack) on March 9, 1862. Lt. Worden was a Civil War veteran (Army of the James) and, at the time of his marriage, commander of Company B, 1st U.S. Infantry, stationed at Madison Barracks, Sackets Harbor, New York. Anna died in child birth at her mother's home at 52 North Pearl Street, Albany. According to the cemetery records, an infant is buried with her. Distraught at the loss of his wife and baby. Lt. Worden committed suicide at Madison Barracks on May 4, 1873.
