Obituary of Mary Meservy
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, our mother, and our friend, Mary Meservy. Mary passed into her heavenly father's arms on February 27, 2013.

Mary was born in New York City on February 16, 1918 and raised in Woodmere, N.Y. After attending secretarial school in New York, in 1938 she and her first husband, John Martin (and a small dog) spent three months driving across the United States on their way to a new home in Honolulu. The roads being what they were in 1938, her family has enjoyed many amusing tales of that trek. After spending a year in Honolulu, and with an impending war, the Martins resettled in Los Angeles where their four children were born.

After moving to San Diego in 1954 and after the death of her first husband, Mary met and married her husband of 54 years, Harold Meservy. Harold and Mary met where they worked at General Dynamics. Mary enjoyed a long career as the "go-to" person in Employee Benefits. She routinely helped employees with their hardships.

As both Mary and Harold had a passion for adventure, they traveled extensively throughout the United States and the world. Long weekends were fair game for any adventure. Mary was an adept travel planner and chronicler, giving her family a colorful pictorial of her life and travels. During these years they were very active in the La Mesa First Presbyterian congregation, avid Padres fans, and doting grandparents.

After retiring, the Meservys moved to Lake Havasu City and the warmth of the Arizona sun. They immersed themselves in the Community Presbyterian congregation, the Golden Kiwanis and the Elks Lodge. They enjoyed their many good friends, live theater and they continued to travel whenever possible.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Harold, her four children, Geoffey Martin of Georgetown, Texas, Christopher Martin of Seattle, Washington, Michael Martin of Ventura, California and Kati Martin of Half Moon Bay, California. She enjoyed her 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren as often as possible.

Mary will be missed for her unfailing clarity, her love of intellectual conversation, her sense of humor, her willingness to help others in need, her generosity, her love of adventure and her loving nature. She was a force upon us all.

A memorial service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Interagency Council Community Food Bank would be appreciated. www.azfoodbanks.org/index.php/foodbank/article/lake_havasu_community_food_bank/
