Mary moved to New York City with her parents in 1811 and lived at 17 Chatham St. She met Joseph B. Varnum and they were married October 13, 1824, at The Brick Church in New York. Mary had seven children, but the death of three sons in childhood caused her much grief.
Mary and her husband Joseph B. Varnum were originally buried in the Varnum vault at The Marble Cemetery in New York City, but were removed in November 1889, and moved to a burial spot still unknown.
