FAIRBANK, CITY LEADER, DIES OF HEART ATTACK

Veteran Attorney Stricken in Home at Age 69.

Kellogg Fairbank, veteran attorney and for many years a leader in municipal affairs, died of heart disease last night in his home, 1244 North State street. He would have been 70 years old next Tuesday.
Mr. Fairbank was the son of Nathaniel K. and Helen L. Fairbank. He was born in Chicago. He was graduated from Harvard university in 1890 and received a law degree from the same institution in 1893.
He had since been in the practice of law, but devoted much of his time to the management of his father's estate. He was for some years secretary of the Municipal Voters' league. During the world war he was president of the Chicago Shipbuilding company. In recent years he had retired from civic activities.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Janey Ayer Fairbank, widely known as an author, whom he married in 1900; a daughter, Janet Fairbank, and two sons, Kellogg Jr. and Benjamin Ayer Fairbank.

Funeral services for Kellogg Fairbank, veteran lawyer and civic leader, will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow in the Fairbank home at 1244 North State street. Private services will follow in Graceland cemetery. Mr. Fairbank died Saturday night of heart disease. He was 69 years old. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Janet Ayer Fairbank, widely known author; a daughter, Janet, and two sons, Kellogg Jr. and Benjamin Ayer Fairbank.
