11th Maine Infantry during Civil War.

Some notes on John: His marriage record to Margarett states it his his third marriage and Margarett's second. "Patrtridge" then may be either her birth name or name from her first marriage. The 1870 census shows a four year old son named Walter and the 1880 census shows a 14 year old son named John W. Then there is a marriage record for a son named John William - son of John and Philae. It seems possible that the son named John W. from the 1880 census was really John Walter and that he and the Walter from the 1870 census are the same person, especially as there is this later son named John William, and Walter is listed as fourm years old in the 1870 census while John W. is listed as 14 in the 1880 census. findagrave shows he was also married first to a woman named Mary who dies age 18 and two months.
