Marion Louise (Wilbur) McAllister
SCARBOROUGH - Marion Louise (Wilbur) McAllister passed away at Pine Point Center, Scarborough, on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, from complications with Congestive Heart Failure.

Marion was the second child of Edwin and Cora (Murphy) Wilbur. Marion lived in Portland, South Portland, and Scarborough all her life and attended Portland Schools. In April 1941 she married Gerald L. McAllister and together they had six children.
In the early fifties Jerry and Marion moved from South Portland to Scarborough. She was a stay at home Mom caring for her family. Marion made most of her children's clothes, she loved to cook and back, canned and jarred fruits and vegetables. She liked to play Bingo (playing as many as 30 cards at a time).
While living in Scarborough the McAllister family always had large vegetable gardens. Marion loved to jar the vegetables and fruits for the long winter months. As a young lady Marion loved to go berry picking with her parents and siblings and later with her children. To relax Marion knitted baby clothes for premature babies and donated them to the local hospitals. While living in Scarborough she would take all her children for LONG walks to Higgins beach, Len Libby's candy shop for treats and to South Portland to visit her parents. She kept all of her children busy with chores as her husband was an over the road truck driver which kept him on the road as long as three weeks at a time.
After the death of her husband in August 1957, Marion moved her family to South Portland. She did many at home jobs to keep her children strong and healthy. Marion went to work for the first time when her two youngest sons were in Jr. High School. After retiring from Health Tex, she cleaned a beauty shop and card shop, once a week just to keep busy. At nearly 82 years of age she decided to fully retire. While living at Northfield Green, in Portland, Marion enjoyed helping with luncheons, parties, making pickles and jam for the holiday fair. She also loved to take bus trips, having pizza parties, and many other activities with the wonderful folks in building #151.
Mom, Nana, Nanny, Great and Great-Great Nana will be missed by her family. She was our rock.

Marion was predeceased by her husband Gerald (Jerry); her parents; her brothers, Clifford, Russell, Ronald and Robert Wilbur; sister, Edith (Wilbur) Hall; a very special great aunt Muriel (Durling) Murphy; and granddaughter Lisa Marie McAllister.

Marion is survived by six children, Gerald D. McAllister (Sharon), of New Jersey, Winnifred K. Rusin (Ken) of New Hampshire, Ramona Gaudet (David) of Scarborough, Raymond McAllister of Portland, Arnold McAllister (Vicki) of New Gloucester and Brian McAllister (Gabrielle) of California, MD; 12 grandchildren, Jonathan, Maureen, Elizabeth, Melissa, Tina and Geraldine Burney, Gerald LeRoy McAllister, Jennifer D'Alfonso, Dustan McAllister, Jesse and David McAllister; many great- grandchildren; and many great-great-grand children; as well as sister-in-law Mrs. Clifford (Barbara) Wilbur. Marion also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Marion's children would like to thank all of their Mom's friends at Northfield Green Building #151 for all the kindness and love they shared with her, all the kind folks at Pine Point Center. And from the bottom of our hearts we thank the caring and compassionate people at the Compassus Hospice, especially Nurse Cindy and CRMA Missy
