Kittery - Sarah J. Franklin, 79, of 26 Mendum Ave., widow of Dalton J. Franklin Sr., died in a local nursing home Thursday, September 18, 1980.
Born August 18, 1901 in Ellsworth, Maine, daughter of Ira and Annie Kane Maddocks, she was a 1918 graduate of Ellsworth High School and a 1919 graduate of Machia Normal School.
Mrs. Franklin was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, the Ladies Aide of the church, and an honorary member of the administrative board. She was also a 50-year member of the Pythian Sisters, and a member of the Grange and the NARFE.
She leaves two sons, Dalton J. Jr. of Kittery, and Loring L. of Crystal River, Florida; three daughters, Annie Webber, Eleanor Dubravsky and Elaine Tacy, all of Kittery; three brothers, Elmer, Lewis and Irving Maddocks, and a sister, Marian Jordan, all of Ellsworth Falls; 12 grandchildren and three great-children.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Saturday at St. Mark's United Methodist Church. Burial will be Orchard Grove Cemetery, Kittery, Maine.
