aniel Ellenbogen Parker

Daniel Ellenbogen Parker passed away September 11, 2015 in Honolulu, Hawaii, after a brave year-long struggle with a rare form of cancer. He was 31 years old.

Daniel was a graduate of the Evergreen School and Nova/Running Start in Seattle. He received his BA in Anthropology from the University of Hawaii in 2008. He is survived by his wife Devon Culbertson, his parents, Wayne Parker and Helene Ellenbogen, his brother Micah Parker, his paternal grandparents Richard and Betty Parker, his aunts and uncles Charlotte (Frank) Vincent, Robert (Linda) Parker, Paul (Edith) Ellenbogen, Elizabeth Ellenbogen, Ruth (Alan) Sutton, Anna Ellenbogen, and many cousins.

Dan was much loved by his family and many friends. He had a strong fighting spirit throughout his illness. He was an avid mechanic, a talented soccer player and skateboarder, and a devoted Seahawks fan. He loved rock music, local bands, and movies of all kinds. Most of all, he was wonderful with people: funny, open to others, curious about everything, and caring. He made friends wherever he went, and whatever he was doing.

An informal celebration of his life was held in Honolulu. A memorial service and life celebration will be held in Seattle, October 18th at 3:00 p.m. at Temple Beth Am, followed by talk, food, drink and the sharing of fond memories of him, as he requested.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to colon cancer research at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, or the Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research in Honolulu.
