Gershom Bulkeley was the son of Rev John Bulkeley and Patience Prentice. He was born 4 Feb 1708/1709 in Colchester, CT and died sometime in the first part of 1788.

Gershom Bulkley married Abigail Robbins, 27 or 28 Nov 1733.

They had the following children born in Colchester:

1. Sarah, b. 10 Nov 1735, m. John Taintor on 23 Nov 1758 in Colchester, d. 6 Nov 1806 in Windham, CT.

7. Roger, b. 14 Sep 1751 d. 1819
8. Anne, b. 11 May 1753, m. 29 May 1771 Asa Swan

Gershom's will was dated 8 Feb 1785 and proved 6 May 1788; wife Abigail; sons John, Joshua, Daniel, and David, to each the farm he lives on; son Roger, the farm I live on; daughters Sarah Taintor, Eunice Lord, and Ann Swan; negroes Jack and Flora.

He was commissioned Ensign of the north Company, Colchester in May 1749, Lieutenant in Oct 1750 of the same company, and Captain of the 1st Company in May 1752. He was Deputy for Colchester to the CT General Assembly, Oct 1756 and May 1757. Captain Gershom made return, Campaign of 1757, French and Indian War.*

The tomb of Gershom Bulkeley (1708 - 1788) and his descendents was rediscovered in May of 2002. Restoration was completed in 2003 and the remains of the Bulkeley family members were then reinterred.
