Committal Services Held For Former Local Resident
Interment services for Miss Rose Stewart, concert soprano and native of Cambridge, who died at Boston, Mass., on Friday at the age of 85, were held on Monday morning in Woodlands Cemetery, the Rev. James G. Hunt, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Miss Stewart reached popularity as soloist with Stewart's Festival Orchestra, a musical organization sponsored by her brother, the late George W. Stewart. For many years, following the conclusion of her concert career, she was a teacher of music.
Miss Stewart studied in Boston and abroad. She was a classmate of such opera personalities as Emma Eames and Nellie Melba.
Survivors include two nieces, Miss Rose Mosher of Boston, and Mrs. Henry Craft of Glen Cove, and five cousins, Philip Stoddard of Boston, Warren Whitcomb of Cambridge, Raymond Whitcomb of Lake George, Miss Norma Whitcomb of Hoosick Falls and Irwin Perry of this village (findagrave)
