Body Of F.L. Ghoslin Buried Here Monday
Frank L. Ghoslin Passes Away Following Stroke of Paralysis
Another pioneer Alden resident passed away Friday of last week, F.L. Ghoslin succumbing to a paralytic stroke at his home in Waterloo. Mr. Ghoslin suffered the first stroke October 25, 1922, the second occurring early last spring and the third on Friday of last week. The body was brought to Alden Monday morning and funeral services were held at one o'clock PM at the A.F. bushman home, Rev. E. Robbins, officiating. Interment was in Alden Cemetery.
Frank L. Ghoslin was born in Clayton County, Iowa in 1854 and died at this home in Waterloo Friday evening November 13, 1925 at 11:45 o'clock, being 71 years of age at the time of his death. While yet a young man Mr. Ghoslin accompanied by his brother, James, came to Alden and for many years followed the pursuit of contractor and builder in this vicinity, he being a man of unusual energy.
In 1879 deceased was united in marriage to Miss Cora Kemp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sumner Kemp and two children, Olive May and Frank C. Ghoslin were born to this union. Mrs. Ghoslin passed away April 12, 1887. Mr. Ghoslin was again married June 24, 1888 to Miss Jennie Odgers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Odgers of Mineral Point, Wisconsin who with his son and daughter survive him. Besides these he leaves two grandchildren, William and Thomas Ghoslin, Waterloo, a number of nieces and nephews and three brothers, Henry of Riceville, Lucius of Floyd and Ben C. of Correctionville to mourn his passing.
Since leaving Alden the deceased had made his home at Waterloo and the older residents of this vicinity who knew him especially well sympathize sincerely with the relatives in their sorrow.
Those present at the funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. James Ghoslin, Ray Ghoslin, Mrs. Cleo Ghoslin, Mrs. Roy Brown, Estherville; Mr. and Mrs. F.G. Ghoslin and sons, Will and Tom, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Thompson, Mrs. Davison, Waterloo; L.W. Ghoslin, Floyd; Ben C. Ghoslin, Correctionville.
