George E. Matteson, 85, Dead
George E. Matteson, 85, died this morning at Franklin County Hospital where he had been from about three weeks. Mr. Matteson, was born at Quackenkill, NY and had been a resident of Greenfield for about 27 years. He leaves a son, George of Woodleigh Avenue and a daughter Elsie Judkins of Shelburne Falls. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 at Woodlock funeral home and burial will be in East Colrain.

He married twice. His first wife's name is not yet known with certainty, but it could have been Mary S Robertson, and they may have had a son Charles Matteson. Mary and Charles are buried in the same plot in Warren,NY. (George's sister Carrie is buried in this same cemetery).
