Captain John (5) Colt, son of John (4) Colt, was born in 1658. He resided for the greater part of his life in the town of Lyme, Conn., where he died on January 2, 1751, at the age of ninety-three years. He married Mary Lord, and they were the parents of five children, three daughters whose names are unknown, and two sons: Benjamin and Samuel.
John was a Ship Builder in New London, like his father and brothers- Joseph & Jabez.

John Colt, son of John and Ann Skinner Colt, married Sarah Lord Nov 13, 1695 (New Eng Marriages). According to the book "Genealogy of the Descendants of Thomas Lord" by K. Lord, they have 8 children: John, Joseph, Jabez, Benj. b 1698, dau who marries twice and lives in Hadylyme, Sarah, Esther, Samuel b. 1705.
