In 1738 the General Court authorized him, as "a principal inhabitant," to call a meeting to elect town officials for the Island of Arrowsick, alias Georgetown. He served as moderator, town clerk and treasurer in the town until his death. After 1724, he was the commander of the local militia with the rank of Major.
