Georgette (Ferrere) Chaissan died April 8, 2020, at the age of 101. She was born January 9, 1919, in Vetan, Italy, and was the youngest of four siblings.

She is predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Silvio Chaissan. Survivors include her sons, Dennis and Lee; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

After living in occupied France during World War II, Georgette emigrated from Italy to New York in 1951. She met Silvio in New York, and they were married January 19, 1952. Silvio and Georgette owned, operated, and lived on their apple orchard in Highland, NY, for many decades. Georgette loved her family and loved to laugh. She was the quintessential Italian mama/nana – always the last to sit down at the table and never letting anyone get up before they ate seconds and even thirds. Food was love.

She had an amazing green thumb and planted a garden every year, growing her fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Her favorites were hot peppers and she delighted in trying to convince the recipient that the peppers weren’t really that spicy (they were)! Georgette also loved to travel and see the world, taking numerous exotic trips throughout her life with her family. Her last overseas adventure was a trip back to her hometown in 2005.

She lived an amazing life and experienced so much in her 101 years. She touched everyone she met and will never be forgotten.

A private burial will be held at the family plot at Lloyd Cemetery.
