Viola, age 93, of Greenville, passed away Saturday at her home under loving care of her family and Heartland Hospice. She was born August 9, 1919 in Troy Township, Newaygo County the daughter of Fred F & Hattie Eva (Manzer) Barringer.
On November 19, 1938, in Maumee, Ohio, she married Raymond J. Herroon and together they enjoyed sixty-six years of marriage and raised six children. A devoted wife and mother, Viola also worked outside the home at Wolverine World Wide in Rockford and retired after 17 years of service. She enjoyed basket making, knitting, and crocheting, and was a faithful member of St. Charles Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband, Raymond J. Herroon, on February 26, 2005; two sons, Frank Jack Herroon on July 12, 2002 and Richard Elmer Herroon on October 2, 2012; seven grandchildren, Todd M. Edwards Herroon, Johnathan J DeGood, Donald Herroon, Brandy Herroon, Pattie Herroon, Jussie Mary DeGood and Angie Carr DeGood; four sisters, Mable Baker, Ethel Fountain, Mae Vamos, and Margaret Human; and four brothers, John, Herbert, Luey and George Barringer.
Surviving are her children, Violet Cross of Six Lakes, Ethel & Dan DeGood, Barb & Dennis Day, Ray John "Butch" & Virginia Herroon; a daughter-in-law Gloria Herroon, all of Greenville; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation Thursday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Greenville, Rev. Father Michael F Cilibraise presiding. Private burial at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery.
