Albert G. Barber Dies Of Paralysis

Second Case in County Proves Fatal---Three Ill at Brattleboro
Private funeral services were held this afternoon for Albert G. Barber, 23, of 378 Federal street, who died from infantile paralysis at the isolation hospital at 8:15 p.m. Saturday. Taken to the hospital only nine hours before, it is believed the disease had been in its earlier stages for nearly a week. It was the first death from the malady here this year and the second of two cases to be to local or county medical authorities.
Mr. Barber was admitted to the hospital Saturday at 11 a.m. and when his condition grew worse, an ambulance was sent from the Springfield Isolation hospital which made plans for special treatment. The Patient died before the ambulance arrived.
Born at Leyden Sept. 22, 1912, Barber was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Barber of 175 Silver street. He had lived here for 19 years was a graduate of Greenfield high school class of 1932 and employed at the Greenfield Tap and Die corporation.
Besides his parents, he leaves his widow, who was Miss Doris E. Faneuf of Montague city; a brother, Robert L. Barber of Brattleboro; a sister, Mrs. Ida Longley of New Haven, Conn., and a half sister, Mrs. Ellen Cummings of this town. Burial will be in South cemetery, Leyden.
