Larry Richard Allred

WEST POINT – Larry Richard Allred, 64, died July 25, 2008 in Layton. He was born January 16, 1944 to Elton Richard and Vila Marie Weir Allred in Ogden, Utah. He grew up in Washington Terrace and has lived in Newark NJ, Ft. Bliss TX, Germany, Ogden and finally settled in West Point in 1975. He graduated from Bonneville High and graduated in Logistics from Weber State. He married Karen Wayment in the Salt Lake Temple October 12, 1967. Larry served his country for three years in the U.S. Army.

Larry was a member of the LDS Church and served a mission to New Zealand. He held many positions in the Church. He was also active in the Boy Scouts of America.

Larry enjoyed football, basketball, golfing, camping, fishing, hunting, dirt bike riding and played the saxophone in the local West Point Band and also played in bands at Weber State.

He worked as a Radar Technician at HAFB.

Larry is survived by his wife Karen; siblings Kathryn Marie Dobson (Leonard), Philippines, Susan Kay Vinning (Terry), Kaysville, Raelene Warsham (Jeff), So. Ogden, Debra Ann Fisher (Charles), Washington Terrace, Glen Russell Allred, Big Timber, MT and Michael Weir Allred (Kathy) Roy. He was also blessed with a great many nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Bertie Palmer Allred, Ada Eliza Garner, Thomas Harold Weir and Gladys Ada Bosworth and one nephew Parker Alberico Allred.

The family would like to thank Davis Hospital, Larry's doctors and Heritage Gentiva Home Care for all their care and support during his illness.

Larry maintained his sense of humor through the end of his struggle.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at the West Point 10th Ward, 2865 W. 300 No. in West Point. Friends and family may call at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden on Wednesday, July 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Interment, Myers Evergreen Memorial Park.
