Charlotta, otherwise known as Lottie, was born in Manassa, Colorado to Samantha and Benjamin Boice. As a young girl she moved to Old Mexico, where she, sister Mary and mother survived by darning overalls for the local inhabitants. When the opportunity presented itself, they moved to Colonia Juarez, where her mother and sister worked at the local academy. Charlotta gained employment in Thatcher AZ teaching Spanish at the Gila Academy. It was here that she met Franklin Robinson and it was in Thatcher that they settled and raised their family of six children. After the birth of their first child, Maud La Rue, my grandmother, Franklin was called to serve on a mission to the Eastern States for the LDS Church. When he returned, he earned a living with his dairy farm in Thatcher. My grandmother recounts her love for the cream that she used to sell at the railroad station. After five more children, Franklin was called again on a mission to Washington State. While I do not know particular facts, my grandmother said that it was his extended absence that caused the farm to fail. I do not know what happened to cause their separation, but from 1940, Franklin lived with my grandmother in El Monte,California and Lottie lived nearby in a motel. Upon Franklin's death, Lottie moved with LaRue and her husband, Hyrum Talley to Thousand Oaks, CA, where she lived until her death.
