He was born in Switzerland where he worked in a ribbon factory. He arrived here in 1845 and worked as a farm hand for Luman Curtius on the Speaker Rainey farm. He acquired 400 acres.

He married Lucy A Curtius on 14 February 1849 in Greene County, Illinois. She died in 1875. He then married Carrie Prentice on 20 September 1876 in Coles Co., Illinois.

He was the first vice president of Carrollton Bank; a partner in the old Advance Mill. He died at the age of 93.

Mr. Kaser had no children, but raised three children as his own.
These children were:
Katie Clouder, who married G. W. Pilkington.
Benjamin Clouder.
They were six and two years old, when they came to his home.
And Kaser Prentice, a nephew of Mrs. Kaser, came to the Kaser home as a baby.
