On July 14, 1901 at Slater, Saline County, Missouri he married Nora Lee Walker (1882–1919). They had two children, one boy and one girl.

He married his 3rd wife, Margaret Roe Audsley Holmes (1900–1990), on February 21, 1925 at Saline County, Missouri. They had one child, a son.

He died on September 8, 1961, in Johnson Nursing home in Marshall, Saline County, Missouri, at the age of 80, and was buried in Slater City Cemetery, Slater, Saline County, Missouri .
