Joseph Curtis (Curtiss) was born 20 Oct 1700 in Woodbury, Litchfield CT. Joseph son of Israel Curtis also of Woodbury. Joseph is said to have married Mary Stoddard, the daughter of Rev. Anthony Stoddard of Woodbury. Mary was born 19 Jun 1702. Both Joseph Curtis and his wife Mary died in a fever epidemic in 1727.
They left two children: Prucence Curtis, born 1724 and Thaddeus Curtis, born 1726.
Joseph Curtis is also reported to have married Mary Walker (a fact found in the History of Ancient Woodbury, CT, published in 1854). Mary Walker is also supposed to have died in 1727. So the marriage had to be very short after Mary Walker died, and then she died also. He probably married her right away to help with the two babies. Unless the last name was an error.
