George Rollo Reynolds, 79, of Washington Square, died Tuesday, (June 25, 1996) at the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, N.H.

He had been a Walpole resident since 1974. Mr. Reynolds had been an educator, originally teaching in Plattsburg (N.Y.) State Teachers College from 1946 to 1950. He was then principal at Kingsington School and from 1951 until 1955, he was the principal of the Cumberland and Cuttermill Schools in Great Neck, Long Island, N.Y. From 1955 until 1962, he was director of elementary instruction for the Great Neck Public Schools. Until his retirement in 1974, he was the director of curriculum for Scarsdale, N.Y.

Mr. Reynolds was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force 768th Bomb Squadron, serving in China, Burma, India and on the Tinian Island in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945. In Walpole he was involved in the Town Library and Historical Society.

Mr. Reynolds was active in the Walpole Planning Board. He was born in Montpelier, Vt., on Sept. 19, 1916, the son of Rollo G. and Alice (Mc Carthy) Reynolds.

Mr. Reynolds attended Horace Mann School for Boys in New York City. He was a 1938 graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H. and earned his master's degree in 1940 from Columbia University Teachers College. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth M. (Nichols) Reynolds of Walpole; one son, Richard Reynolds of Chappaqua, N.Y.; one daughter, Nancy Davies of Ridgewood, N.J.; one sister, Mary Eliz abeth Arter of Lauderhill, Fla.; four grandchildren; and sever al nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Cambridge, Vt. There are no visiting hours. The Foley Funeral Home of Keene is in charge of the arrangements.
