REDERICK THOMAS SR.
Frederick J. Thomas, 89, of North Las Vegas, passed away June 17, 2014. He was born Aug. 23, 1924, in Kansas City, Mo. When he was two years old, his parents returned home to Cardiff, Wales UK. He joined the British Army during WWII. Assigned to Reconnaissance Corp, the 5th Regiment, he served in many major campaigns in Europe and the Holy Lands. In 1948, Fred left Wales for an adventure in the United States.

In 1951, in Las Vegas, he met the love of his life and married. He was a retired teamster/truck driver, a devoted husband, wonderful father and grandfather. He was a proud member of the LDS church.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Stanley and David.

He is survived by his wife, of 60 years, Vera; daughters, Theresa (Paul) of Boulder City and Rosalee (Jack); sons F. John Jr (Patricia) and James (Yvette), all of Las Vegas; brother, Alun Thomas of Cardiff, Wales; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday, June 23, with services following, both at the LDS Civic Center Chapel, 2401 E. Tonopah Ave. North Las Vegas. Burial will be at the Alamo Cemetery.
