Iris Rozina Platt was born May 17, 1964 in Redlands, CA.


She lived in Eagle Mountain and Indio, CA until she was 12, at which time she and her family moved to Prescott, AZ, where they built a home and lived there for five years, before moving to Utah. She graduated from Provo High School in 1982.


She attended Southern Utah State College for two years, full time, and then attended both UVSC and SLCC off and on until graduating in 1997 with honors from SLCC with her Associates of Science in Business Administration. She graduated from the University of Utah in 2000 with her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.


She became a PADI Scuba instructor in 2000. She enjoyed the outdoors and was very active, such as running marathons, biking, hiking, swimming, and of course scuba diving. But her biggest passion was helping animals.


She was actively involved in helping several different out-of-state rescue groups. She also volunteered and fostered animals for the Humane Society of Utah where in 2005, she was named volunteer of the month and in 2008 both she and Bear, her dog were jointly named Volunteers of the month.


In April 2009, she received the lifetime Achievement award from the Humane Society of Utah. She also had animals of her own, which she loved very much. She was active in the LDS Church and held many callings within the organization.


Her spirit left this earth on April 12, 2009, after a fight against Cancer. She resided at 166 South 200 East in Orem, Utah at the time of her death.


She is survived by numerous friends and family members, but most of all her beloved dog, Bear. She was pre-deceased by her parents.


Funeral Services will be held at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State Street in Orem at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2009. Friends may call from 12 noon to 1:45 p.m. prior to the services.
Interment will be at the Orem City Cemetery.
