Alta Baxter Coe Farr, age 103, passed away peacefully at Sandy Regional Center on September 24, 1993.
Born November 10, 1889 in Tulare, California, the eighth child of William Henry Harrison Baxter and Martha Jane Jones, of Wilson County and Bedford County, Tennessee. She lived about 50 years in California, 29 years in Arizona, and the last 24 years in the Salt Lake City area, most of this time with her two stepdaughters, Melissa Farr Beckstead and Maybeth Farr Reimann who survive her.
She married Gurney Herman Coe October 5, 1909. He died in 1952. Later married Ernest Farr who died in 1974.
She is survived by her son, Jack Herman Coe and wife Eloise; two grandsons, five great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons, Ray William Coe and Richard Guy Coe.
She will be long remembered for her sweet disposition and her good sense of humor all through her very long life. She was a member of the LDS Church, active in genealogical and family history research, and temple work. She was a practical nurse, gave many home-made quilts and other needlework.
The family wishes to express great appreciation to all who remembered her with kindness, and especially the personnel at Sandy Regional for their tender care for almost three years.
Viewing will be from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m., Monday, September 27, followed by funeral services at 1 p.m., both to be at Midvale North Stake Center, 97 West 7500 South. Burial at Wasatch Lawn.
