DUCHESNE--Raynold B. Hansen, 71, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, educator, and church leader passed away of cancer at his home in Duchesne, November 28, 1993.

Born November 9, 1922 in Fairview, Idaho, he was the son of Raynold Andrew Hansen and Olive Myrl Jones. He married Dona Rose Burgoyne December 15, 1947 in the Logan LDS Temple. He served his country during World War II in the United States Air Force. Received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Utah State University, and did further post-graduate work at the University of Utah.

His was a life of service to his family, community, church, and education, having taught in Iron County Schools, and serving as an administrator with Cache County, Kane County, and Duchesne County School Districts. He touched the lives of many teachers and children as he strived to improve the quality of education in Duchesne County where he worked for 26 years, mostly as Director of Curriculum. He served as state president of the Association for Supervisors of Curriculum Development. He was instrumental in bringing pre-kindergarten testing to the District, implemented science fairs, and was of immeasurable help to beginning teachers.

As a church leader he served as High Councilman and had many leadership and teaching positions in the auxiliary organizations of the LDS Church. He is fondly remembered as a scout master who helped many boys earn their Eagle Awards. He also served as cubmaster, and was a Little League coach. He loved to garden, and to fish and hunt.

20 years ago Mr. Hansen suffered a stroke, and through his tenacity and hard work was able to talk, and write, walk and resume his work at the school district. He helped other stroke victims with their needed skills.

His family is especially appreciative of friends, neighbors, and Duchesne 2nd Ward members who have shown their love through many acts of kindness throughout his long illness.

Beside his wife, Dona, he is survived by his sons: Mark and Dixie Hansen, Palmer, Alaska; Douglas and Connie Hansen, Ogden; Don Hansen, Duchesne; and eight grandchildren; sisters, Della Hickman, New Brighton, Pennsylvania; and Ardith Nielsen, Salt Lake City. Preceding him in death are his parents, two sisters, and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 1, 1993, noon, at the Duchesne Stake Center. Friends may call Tuesday 7-9 p.m. at the Hullinger-Olpin Mortuary in Roosevelt, and Wednesday at the church 10-11:30 p.m. Interment at Duchesne City Cemetery.
