1937 ~ 2013
An unforgettable man left this life surrounded by his loving wife and beautiful daughters September 18th. Archie entered the world on November 6th, 1937 in Carson City, NV. He was raised in Hiawatha and spent his childhood roaming the hills in Carbon County. He married Lorna Collard Smith and later divorced. He received his bachelor and master degrees at the University of Utah and his doctorate in Education at Brigham Young University. He spent most of his career as an elementary principal at multiple schools in Granite School District.
He was preceded in death by his parents Felix and Jean McCarrie and his brothers Robert and Earnest. He is survived by his wife Kathryn Udell McCarrie, Carrie (Rick) Harman, Mecque (Brad) Heinz, Bona Shell (Rob) Wong, Shannon (Brad) Blanchfiled, Tanya (Shaun) Buckner, Deena McCarrie, 19 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Archie was a warm and caring man and will always be remembered for his sense-humor and quick one-liners. Nevertheless when asked, he always responded "ornery as ever." The family would like to express gratitude to Rocky Mountain Hospice for their care and support as well as all of those who were there to show their love.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday September 22nd at 11:00 AM in the Le Jardin Green House, 1950 East 10600 South Sandy, UT.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to NPR https://www.kuer.org.
If you think if you know Archie it is probably because "we went to different high schools together."
