William d'Aubigny / Aubeney, 2nd Earl of Arundel,
Son of William d'Aubigny, 1st Earl of Arundel and Adeliza de Louvain, the widow of King Henry I Beauclerc. Grandson of Guillaume d'Aubigny and Maud le Bigod, Godefroi I de Louvain, Duc de Basse-Lorraine and Ida de Namur, Comtesse de Namur. He was born before 1150.
William was the second husband of Matilda St Hilary de Harcouet, the daughter of Jacques (James) Saint Hilary du Harcouet, and his wife, Aveline, and the widow of Sir Roger de Clare, the Earl of Hertford. Their children included:
* William, 3rd Earl of Arundel, crusader and Magna Carta Surety
* Matilda, wife of William de Warrene, Earl of Surrey
William held the office of Custos Rotulorum (Keeper of the Rolls) of Windsor Castle in 1191, and was one of the receivers for the money raised for the King's in 1194. In 1190 he inherited the earldom of Arundel.
