Thelma Staley Burritt, age 95, of Greensboro died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at her home. Mrs. Burritt was born May 4, 1927, the daughter of Thomas Raymond and Mary Ann Cox Staley.
Mrs. Burritt loved her life and her family. She was preceded in death by her five brothers and sisters who grew up on a Depression-era farm in Randolph County. After moving to Greensboro, she met her future husband, Clark C. Burritt Jr. They were married Oct. 6, 1951 - 71 years to the day before her death.
An accomplished flower arranger, Mrs. Burritt won numerous blue ribbons in Garden Club contests. She arranged beautiful flowers for New Garden Friends Meeting where she was an active member and belonged to the Guilford College Community Civitan Club. Mrs. Burritt is preceded in death by her husband and older son, Clark C. Burritt III. She is survived by her other son, two grandchildren and three nieces and two nephews.
The funeral is planned for 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, at New Garden Friends Meeting. Services will start in the church's meetinghouse and conclude with burial in the cemetery. Memorials may be made to New Garden Friends Meeting, 801 New Garden Road, Greensboro, NC 27410.
