Adriel U. Bird, 56, died at his temporary Boston home, 8 Louisburg Square, following a lengthy illness. Born in Rockland, he was president of the LaTouraine Coffee Co. the S.H. Ames Co., and the Kennedy & Co. stores. He was an overseer of Bowdoin College, where he had graduated in 1916, and was a member of the University Club, Boston. Previously he was president of the John Bird Co., a Rockland wholesale grocery firm and a part owner of Atlantic Spice Co., Rockland. He was former owner of the Samoset Hotel, Rockland. He was associated with the initiation of the Flying Santa Claus operations along the New England coast each Christmas.
Spouses - Marion Bird (2nd) and Esther Brock Bird (1st, div. 1948).
Parents - Elmer S. Bird and Emma Sylvester Bird.
Brother - Raymond Bird of Union, Maine.
