Asheville Citizen-Times, September 10, 1917, p 7: The funeral of Ira Martin, 17-year-old son of Mr and Mrs John H Martin of Black Mountain and Asheville, who was killed by the accidental discharge of his gun while squirrel hunting alone Saturday morning near Black Mountain, was held yesterday and was attended by a large number of people, friends of the family and young men associates of the deceased.
The services were conducted in the afternoon at 4 o'clock at St Lawrence's Catholic Church by Rev Father Felix, O. S. B. Included in Father Felix's address were references to the splendid character and exemplary conduct of the deceased and also the fact of his popularity among a large circle of friends in Asheville and elsewhere.
The deceased is also survived by two sisters, Elizabeth and Florence and two brothers, Carrol Martin and John H Martin, Jr. Contributor: Valerie Summers (48090336)
