Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Monday June 06, 2005 at Deerfield United Methodist Church in Deerfield, Kansas.
Interment: Deerfield Cemetery.

Survivors: Mary is survived by her son, Charles Cannon of Garden City, daughter, Marilyn and husband Ervin Ploeger of Deerfield and brother, Bert Powell of Byers, Colorado. Three Grandchildren; Robin Lynn Ploeger of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Rachel Lee Dehn of Pueblo, Colorado and Todd Alan Ploeger of Deerfield. Three great-grandchildren; Hannah and Sarah Dehn of Pueblo, Colorado and Troy Ploeger of Deerfeild as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mary died at Terrace Garden Care Center in Garden City, Kansas. She was born in Iola, Kansas the daughter of James A. and Ruth E. (Wilson) Powell. Mary moved with her family to Sterling, Kansas in 1924. She attended Sterling Schools and graduated from Sterling High School in 1935. Mary graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1939. After graduation, Mary moved to Deerfield, Kansas where she taught Commerce Class for a year. Mary lived in Deerfield until 2003 when she moved to Garden City. She married Lynn M. Cannon on August 26, 1940 in Sterling, Kansas. As a homemaker, Mary enjoyed flowers, yard work, her church work and time with her family. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Lynn who died on January 31, 2002. She is also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.

Memberships: Mary was a member of the Deerfield United Methodist Church, A charter member of the Deerfield United Methodist Women and Serendipity Group of the United Methodist Women.

Memorials may be made out to the Deerfield United Methosit Church or to the Terrace Garden Care Center both in care of Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Calling hours are from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home in Lakin, Kansas.
