Cecil Luella Anderson was born in Woodburn, Iowa, on December 7, 1894 to John Lincoln Anderson and Sarah Luvada Roberts. She married Cliff Ira Sowash on September 27, 1912, in Osceola, Iowa, and had three children: Dorothy, Mildred, and Cliff Jr. She was divorced from John Anderson and re-married twice: around 1935 to Earl H Crisp and later in 1942 to Jimmy Allen. She had two grandchildren: Rodney White, son of Dorothy (Sowash) White, and Richard Giannoble, son of Mildred (Sowash) Giannoble. She was a professional seamstress most of her life, creating beautiful clothes on a treadle sewing machine and by hand. Dedicated to her children and family, she was particularly close to her sister Velma (Anderson) McMichael.
