Dean Lingle was born March 8, 1907, in Topeka, Kansas to Walter and Martha (Schleusinger) Lingle. He graduated from Osceola Junior College in 1935 and enlisted in the Army on February 10, 1941 and became a Mess Sergeant with WWII service in Algeria, Italy and Germany until honorably discharged on September 6, 1945. He married Lucille Sowash on October 14, 1941, before going overseas. Dean worked in the printing industry as a Lino operator for the Creston News and Advertiser for many years. Dean had a dry wit and loved photography, gardening and train travel. He was also an excellent needle craftsman, creating hooked rugs, counted cross stitch, and embroidery treasures. He was a soft spoken man who will be sorely missed by friends and family.
