Lavonne Ilene (Teri) DeBord 87, of Sterling, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church in Sterling, Colorado. Interment will be held at a later date.

Teri was born to Jacob Frederick Ahl and Edna Florence Ahl on July 26, 1935, in Hebron, N.D. They moved from Hebron to Great Falls, Montana, where she attended Middle School and High School. She later attended and graduated from Denver University in 1957. While in Denver, she met Bob DeBord in 1955 and the two fell in love and were married on August 19, 1956, in Great Falls, Montana. Teri taught kindergarten for three years after college while living in Denver, CO.

Teri and Bob moved to Sterling, CO in 1965 with daughters Kristin (1960), Kyle (1963) and Beth in (1967).

Teri was one of the founders of Meals on Wheels in Sterling, Colorado and was also a member of PEO, Reviewers, and Sterling Golf Club. She also served as a deacon of the First Presbyterian Church. Besides being an incredible mom and wife, Teri was a passionate reader, loved cooking, entertaining, gardening and Jesus. She was also a sneaky competitor in golf and tennis. She proudly put her name on the plaque as Sterling Country Club Women's Golf Champion multiple years.

Teri was an incredibly kind and happy person. She took a genuine interest in all whom she met and always made them feel special and listened to. Many of her friends and acquaintances have commented on her tremendous positivity and joyful attitude towards life! Teri loved her many, many, dear friends and considered them part of her extended family.

Teri loved attending sporting, music, art, and all family events for her four granddaughters in Fort Collins, CO.

Teri is survived by her daughter Beth of Denver, son Kyle and wife Joni of Timnath, CO; granddaughters Taylor DeBord Feller and husband Chris Feller of New York, N.Y., Madison DeBord and finance Marc Bachman of Golden, CO, Cortney DeBord of Timnath, CO, and Sydney DeBord of Timnath, CO; brother Marlin Ahl and wife Irene in Kingwood, TX, niece Miro Stein and husband Robert, and nephew Larry Ahl and husband David; brother-in-law Frank DeBord and wife Judy, niece Katie DeBord and great niece Eliana of Denver, CO.

Teri was preceded in death by her daughter, Kristin, her husband Bob, her parents Edna and Jacob Ahl, and her mother-in-law Helen DeBord.
