Connie Jarrett Gilley, 71, of Collinsville, VA, moved to her Heavenly home on September 4, 2018.
She was born in Henry County on May 4, 1947, to the late Ernest Claude Jarrett and the late Virginia Harrell Jarrett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, who she couldn't wait to see.
Connie is survived by a son, Paul "David" Gilley Jr, of Collinsville; a daughter, Angie Myers of Collinsville; two grandchildren: Jordan Myers of Collinsville and Emily Myers of Danville; one great-grandson, Allan Myers; her brother, Michael Jarrett of Bassett.
Connie loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a long time member of Freedom Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and loved singing in the choir. In her later years, she attended Crosspoint Church.
She also had a passion for writing poetry. She won an award with one of her poems and also published a book.
The family would like to thank everyone for their support and very special thanks go out to Mountain Valley Hospice for such an outstanding job. We couldn't have done this without them. Also, special thanks to Jay Norris of Norris Funeral Home, who truly helped relieve the burdens throughout our mother's illness and death. His caring and concern go above anything we could have asked.
A funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Fort Trial Baptist Church with Dr. Joey McNeill, Reverend Tony Beach, and Pastor Sammy Caldwell officiating. Burial will be in Providence United Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 7, 2018, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Fort Trial Baptist Church.
