Calvin C. Compton, 92, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019.

He was born on October 7, 1926, to the late Whitten Compton and Gertrude Brown Compton. Calvin was also preceded in death by his son, Larry Dean Compton.

He served during World War II in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. Calvin was employed for 36 years by Lone Star Cement, retiring in 1987.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Arbutus Cook Compton; sons, Gary Eugene Compton and Debbie, Barry Calvin Compton and Donna; granddaughters “the girls,” Alanna, Casey, and Baylee Compton; a special niece, Patsy Greenway and Marion; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

The Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019, at Oakey’s North Chapel with Pastor Ron Young officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
