Clyde Roger Compton, age 72 of Bandy, Virginia passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016 in Tazewell, Virginia following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Buchanan County and was the son of the late Elmer and Vicie Church Compton. Clyde was a loving father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He had worked for many years as coal miner before retiring and was a lifelong resident of the area.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Darrell Compton and Johnny Compton and former wife, Nancy Robertson Compton.

Funeral Services for Clyde Roger Compton will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Danny Houchins officiating. Interment will follow at the Elmer Compton Family Cemetery on Compton Mountain near Pilgrims Knob, VA. Pallbearers will be Connor Compton, Ben Compton, Bear Compton, Scott Compton, Brandon Blankenship, Brandon Rose and Michael Fuller. The family will begin receiving friends at 6:00 pm on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
