Nina Eleanor Keene, age 84 of Pounding Mill, VA drew her first breath in heaven on Thursday, August 4, 2016.
She was born in Jewell Ridge, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Jessie Paul “JPaul” and Carrie McNeal White. She was a graduate of Whitewood High School Class of 1951 and she attended Emory and Henry where she received a degree in education. She taught school in Buchanan County for several years before deciding to spend more time with her family. She was a faithful and loving wife, a devoted mother, sister, Aunt, grandmother and friend. Nina was an avid collector of ceramic roosters, and loved to spend time in her kitchen. She was an active church member of the Claypool Hill Church of Christ and a lifetime resident of the area. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert H. White and her nephew, Robert H. White, II.

Son, Paul Lewis Keene and wife, Dr. E. Anne Keene of Guilford, CT
Grandchildren, Leonard “Lenny” Scott Keene and Andrew Paul Keene. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. For the many family and friends that took time to care for her and show her love, they held a special place in her heart.
The funeral service for Nina E. Keene will be conducted at 7:00pm on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Minister’s Bob Smith and Hobart Kennedy officiating. Entombment will be held at 10:00 am on Monday at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be, Don Puckett, Carl Wimmer, Jack Keene and Carl Keene. The family will begin receiving friends at 5:00pm on Sunday until time of service at 7:00pm.
