William Blake Compton, 89 of Grundy, VA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 5, 2023.
He was born on December 11, 1933, on Compton Mountain and was the son of the late Hannibal Albert and Celia Cox Compton.
Blake grew up during the depression and went on to become a successful businessman having retired as President and CEO from Grundy National Bank and was proud to say that he was lucky to have been able to live the American dream. Blake was a Veteran of the United States Army and actively served in the Army Reserve.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Shelby Jean Griffith Compton; and by his older brothers Victor, Ray, Ralph and Lodge Compton. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by: As per Find a Grave's new rules the survivor section of the obituary is omitted.
Per his wishes, his body will be cremated and there will be no services.
